Doodle Splash

What is it?
  • As students read a short story, they “doodle,” either in a journal or using an online tool, responding to the text through images, symbols, shapes, and colors. They must be sure to represent all of the elements of the short story (setting, plot, character, point of view, theme) in their doodles.

How can you use it?
  • A great way to reach different learning styles. Students can complete it independently or as a class. It can be projected onto the InterActive White Board and be a springboard for class dissusions.
  • Eventhough it is set up to be used with short stories, other areas could also use the doodle part and explain its relavance to the subject the class is studying.

Why would you use it?
  • This could be used as a way to keep students motivated while working in class. By sharing it using the IWB, students will be help accountable for their work. They also will be able to see how other students interpret the same story.
  • Pros - It incorporates different learning styles. Cons- May be time consuming to discuss all students' work.
